Our aim is to share stories from those who have served, have family members or friends that served on HMAS Diamantina.Baret disguised herself as a man to join her boss - and likely lover - naturalist Philibert Commerson onboard the 1766 colonial expedition of Louis Antoine de Bougainville.It's believed Baret's gender was discovered in Tahiti by the locals, and she and Commerson were later encouraged to disembark in Mauritius. 8,717 were here.
